I have basic camera lens for the canon rebel xt, does anyone know good settings on the camera that would help enhance and make a photoshoot look nicer?

There is no setting to do that… it is the skill and knowledge of the photographer. There are many settings that can be used, and which works best depends entirely on the situation. The camera is a totally dumb box. It is only an instrument that can only perform as well as the person "playing" it.
(By the way, one answer told you to put it in the green box and that would be full manual. Wrong. That is full automatic and I do NOT recommend that. At least put the camera in P mode to allow you to determine things such as when the flash goes off or not).
Honestly, here is the best thing you can do for yourself at this point if you REALLY want to learn to make good photos and know how to use your equipment the way it was intended:

Not sure… look at the manual
What are you shooting? The XT is a consumer camera but it has all (most) of the controls of a pro-camera. Basically you can do anything you want, you just have to judge the light, the mood, the subject….. then release the shutter.
More information is needed to give you an answer
What lens do you have?
What lighting are you using?
What is your subject?
What is your skill level in photography?
Without knowing some of the particulars I would have to say put the camera mode dial on the green box (full manual) and shoot.
Add some more info and I will check back and answer further.
