rob answers:
This camera has recently been discontinued and you will have a hard time finding it. The SD850-IS is due out in a few weeks for $400. It has 8.0 MP, 35-140mm (equiv.) lens, and (of course) image stabilization. It has the newest Digic III processor, too.
I saw the SD700-IS at B&H Photo, but go there NOW, as they will be closed for the rest of the week and there is risk that it will be sold out while they are closed. B&H Photo available through a link at Yahoo! Shopping, www.bhphoto.com or at 1-800-622-4987. See also http://www.resellerratings.com/store/B_H_Photo_Video_Pro_Audio

Lizzie asks…
canon Color Accent cameras?
my friend used to have the Powershot A540 and I really liked how it had the color accent tool in the camera. I’ve been looking up some cameras but i was just wondering if there was a camera like that but more megapixles and not too pricey. I also like style of the camera http://www.usa.canon.com/app/images/PowerShot_2006/PS_A540/a540_586x225.jpg

Linda asks…
Which of these would you suggest I get (Canon cameras)?
Rebel XSi http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/p…
Rebel T3 http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/p…
or
Rebel XS http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/p…
I’m just looking for which you think would be the easiest for somebody who doesn’t know that much about these cameras to use, or if you could point out the major differences for me? They all seem pretty similar besides the T3 having less megapixels and the shutter speed is different for them. Anything else? Or if you’ve had one do you like it?

rob answers:
Although the T3 is a newer camera, according to Canon’s specifications, it does not have a self-cleaning sensor. This is an oversight on Canon’s part, I think. Unless you never take the lens off, this is not the camera for you. Taking the lens off allows dust to enter the chamber and find its way to the sensor surface. A self-cleaning sensor keeps you from having to manually clean the sensor as often. There is a dust delete software-based mechanism, however.
This seems to be a stripped-to-the-bone SLR directed at the point-and-shoot market. As others have suggested, if you don’t know much about SLRs, your best bet would be to get a compact camera. They are capable of taking excellent pictures. In fact, the major limitation will be your photographic skills.
