How do I override the settings on my Canon Rebel XT?
On the “manual” setting on my camera I noticed that the camera limits the setting sometimes of my apeture. Can this be overridden?

rob answers:
I own a XTi and would suggest that you read your manual over and over (I did and still do from time to time). If your XT has a shutter speed from 30sec. To 1/2000 of a sec. That is it, if your aperture on your lens has a range from f/4. To f/22 that is all you can work with in a “FULL MANUAL MODE”. Have you tried changing your ISO.

How to turn off the flash on my Canon Rebel XT?
I know this answer is probably in my manual, but I kind of need to know the answer like, right now lol. I really dont have time to read through and find the answer!!
Thank you!

rob answers:
In any of the creative modes, the flash must be raised manually. Using Program mode, is, for most purposes, the same as Auto without the automatic flash.

How to use the 7 point AF on a Canon Rebel XT?
i just got one to borrow all summer for yearbook. the guy in charge showed us how to pick one of the points you want to focus on, but i completely forgot and dont have the manual.
i know you use the wheel behind the shutter button, but you need to do something first, and thats what i forget.
thanks ahead of time for any help.

rob answers:
The manual is actually on line http://www.canoneos.com
You have to choose the mode, first, but it’s better explained in manual.

that’s a link to the manual. It should tell you everything you have to know.
I suggest printing it out if you don’t have the manual. It’s a lot of pages, but worth having with you.

Susan asks…
Does the Canon Rebel XT SLR Digital take movies?
I have the Canon Rebel XT Digital Camera. I can’t see anywhere in the manual about it being able to shoot video, like the cheaper point and shoot digitals do. However, the other day I noticed an outlet labeled “Video Out”. Can this camera take video, and if not, what the h-e double hockey sticks is the video out plug for? If it can…tell me…HOW???!!

rob answers:
No, no SLR can take movies. It’s just not possible.
